Jan-Christoph Heilinger is a Postdoctoral Researcher and Lecturer in Philosophy at RWTH Aachen. His research interests include moral and political philosophy, focused on applied ethics (emerging technologies, AI/digitalisation, public health, climate, migration), political philosophy (egalitarianism, global justice and responsibility), anthropological foundations of morality, and methods of ethical decision-making in practical contexts.

After reading philosophy in Cologne, Paris and Berlin, Jan earned a PhD from Humboldt-University Berlin and a Habilitation from LMU Munich. Before joining RWTH Aachen, he worked at Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, at the University of Zurich and at LMU Munich. He held visiting positions at, among others, the University of Sydney, the New School for Social Research and Rutgers University. He also has an appointment as permanent visiting professor at Ecole Normale Supérieure, Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

Recently, he published a monograph on global individual responsibility: Cosmopolitan Responsibility (Berlin/Boston 2020).
